I will always love the January event. It is so much fun. This time was no different. We had a knighting and a company tournament. Which means I did not have to swing foam at all. I just walked around with my camera (pictures to follow).
As in the case of most events I was "working" most of the time. It is not really work to me. I have fun taking pictures and making food. I do not really have a lot of fun fighting. I will cheer on my husband when he is fighting but that is as close as I really want to get. Luckily, our kingdom needs both types of players in their ranks. Suita us to a tee.
I did breakfast on Saturday morning and had wonderful support. I will admit I was a little worried but it all came together and everyone was fed. I was promptly then kicked from the kitchen for a short lie down and then off for photos of the company tournament. Loads happened there and loads to learn from lots of people. I think that even the cross gamers were impressed. I really think they were impressed with our food program. I mean we feed our players right, no one goes hungry in our feast.
Speaking of feast will bring us to court. Queen Tree did something unusual to keep court quick, or quicker I should say. Lower level orders she gave out to people as they ate. It was nice to see her bouncing from table to table giving smiles to everyone. Larger awards were given during the actual court time. We had several titles to give out and a few Masters also! I had 4 very special awards given to friends. Sir Venus was given her 0th Rose. Tree was given her Master Rose, which is a big deal. Deryk received his Count title, very nice scroll done by a dear friend. But I think the biggest thing may have been the Master Garber for my friend Donnie. This I did not know about ahead of time, in fact Venus only told the Queen I think that she would be giving him this award. I am so happy for him, and I know he is pleased with the honor.
The biggest part of court for this weekend was the Knighting of a fellow house member. Shalazzar received his CROWN belt. This was only the 3rd knighting that I have seen. I love that we have so many traditions to follow during the ceremony. It was amazing to see so many emotions on so many people. All and all I could not think of anyone else who deserved it more. I doubt he will kick back into retirement, so I look forward to what see he will accomplish in our Kingdom.
Thank you to everyone who came out and made this event a huge success!!
